Warped Tour @ Seaside Park, Ventura

Saw full sets from...
Swingin Utters
The Dickies
Alkaline Trio
Sum 41
Far From Finished
All-American Rejects

As many of you know last time I did Warped it didn't turn out so great. But Ventura was the way to go. 75 degrees and $7 Stella. Pure bliss. Even met Trever Keith from Face to Face at Starbucks.

The Big Pink @ El Rey

I was watching a marathon of Skins on BBC America earlier this summer. During the commercials, they were promoting the upcoming season 3. I'm hooked on the show -- you don't have to convince me to watch the next season. But that haunting song they kept playing -- turns out it was "Dominos". (Here is the video.)

Hard to believe this is the first album from these Brits. They didn't disappoint during the live performance. A lot of new bands are a little timid on stage. But these guys got up there and owned it.

 Knittingfactoryhollywood

Aw. Last show at Knitting Factory before they close their doors on their current Hollywood location is tonight. Not going though...it's some lame emo band. C'mon guys, it's your big final hurrah and the best you can come up with is Hit the Lights?

Orange @ Key Club

Ok, it was actually the basement of the Key Club. These poor guys can't seem to catch a break. Saw them a few weeks prior at a coffee shop at USC. Played to a crowd of eight people.

I suspect they're not getting any support from their label...and they probably inked some sort of shady deal with Siruis/XM. Their best single "Working Like the Rent is Due" was an "exclusive" on Sirius Punk for a while...until Sirius decided to kill the channel. And the song isn't on any of their albums or singles, and they don't (can't?) play it live. Sigh. Low-quality version here.

Weezer and blink-182 @ Verizon Amphitheater, Irivine

Nice to see the blink guys talking again. And Rivers is the hardest-working guy in rock music.
